Comedian Kunal Kamra, who is under fire for her “traitor” remarks against Maharashta Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, has posted a new song mocking inflation and the condition of roads in the country. In the song, Kamra referred to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as ‘saree wali didi’.

Kamra landed in soup, and an FIR was filed against him after he used a modified version of a Hindi song from the film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ to taunt Shinde. As the video of the show circulated online, agitated Shiv Sainiks reached the Mumbai studio where the show was shot and damaged property. Visuals on social media showed Sena workers throwing chairs at the studio.
Kamra said for his next show, he would perhaps opt for “Elphinstone bridge, or any other structure in Mumbai” in need of speedy demolition.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asked the comic to apologise for his “low level comedy”, but he refused to cower down.
“Habitat (or any other venue) is not responsible for my comedy, nor does it have any power or control over what I say or do. Neither does any political party. Attacking a venue for a comedian’s words is as senseless as overturning a lorry carrying tomatoes because you didn’t like the butter chicken you were served,” Kamra said.
