Speaking at an administrative event in Midnapore, Banerjee addressed the issue head-on, acknowledging the anxiety gripping the teaching community. “Why do you have to sit out in the heat? Please return to your jobs. Have faith in us. The government will protect your salaries,” she said.
“The Supreme Court had stopped your salaries and slashed your jobs. But we filed a review petition, where we mentioned that you will get your salaries… No has to resort to riots and propaganda for this,” she said.
“You don’t need to worry about who is tainted and who is not,” she said, as reported by PTI. “What matters is whether you still have your job and whether your salary is coming on time. The responsibility of identifying the tainted and untainted lies with the government and the judiciary,” she said.
Despite her assurances, the protestors remain resolute. For many, the Supreme Court’s order has not just impacted their livelihood — it has shaken their sense of purpose and professional identity. Yet, Banerjee emphasised that the state stands with them during this uncertain time.

The protesting teachers, however, refused to relent, calling for the separation of the “qualified” and “unqualified” candidates. “The government should first clarify who the eligible and ineligible candidates are. Otherwise, the sword of termination will keep hanging over all our heads,” a teacher told ABP Ananda.
