The Mumbai exit at Panvel on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will be closed for six months starting February 11 due to construction work at Kalamboli Circle. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is developing a new flyover and underpass as part of the Kalamboli Junction improvement project.
The road closure will impact all light and heavy vehicles travelling toward Panvel, Mumbra, and JNPT, as per traffic police. The restriction will remain in effect 24/7 to facilitate smooth construction and minimise congestion.
Alternative Routes To Take
For vehicles heading to Panvel, Goa, and JNPT from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, traffic will be diverted at Konphata (9.6 km) onto NH-48 via Palaspe Circle.
For people travelling from Pune to Mumbai and heading toward Taloja, Kalyan, and Shilphata, commuters must continue straight from 1.2 km onto the Panvel-Sion Highway, take a right under the Purusharth Petrol Pump flyover, and follow the route via Roadpali and NH-48.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Navi Mumbai, Tirupati Kakade said the restriction order has been issued under the Motor Vehicles Act. “Once the project is completed, the traffic congestion at Kalamboli Circle will be significantly reduced,” he added.
