‘No Unnecessary Rumours’ – Ravindra Jadeja refutes retirement speculations after Champions Trophy 2025 win | CricTracker

Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja put an end to all the speculations around his retirement from ODIs following India’s Champions Trophy 2025 win in the final against New Zealand in Dubai. On Sunday, March 09, Jadeja hit the winning runs to help India lift the trophy for the third time (shared once with Sri Lanka in 2000).

The Saurashtra cricketer was rumoured to be stepping down from the format after the summit clash on Sunday, but nothing of such sort actually happened. To turn down all fake news circulating the news outlets and social media alike, the star all-rounder took to Instagram and shared a story which read ‘NO UNNECESSARY RUMOURS’ followed by a folded hands’ and a salute emoji.

The 36-year-old was influential in the Men in Blue’s win in the final. He bowled a superb spell of 10 overs in the first innings, giving only 30 runs. He gave away runs at a miserly economy of 3.00 and also gave an important breakthrough with Tom Latham’s dismissal. Due to his magnificent bowling with the white ball, India were able to restrict the Kiwi batters to 251-7 in the first innings.

Later in the match, it was all in destiny for the all-rounder, as he also hit the winning runs on the last ball of the 49th over, as the Indian team won the match by four wickets with six balls to spare. He made an unbeaten nine runs from six balls, and had KL Rahul on the other end, to seal the deal for the Rohit Sharma-led side. He was all elated to share his feelings after the glorious encounter.

“That is how it is with me; sometimes a hero, sometimes a zero. The wicket was not easy for a new batter. Hardik and KL were great. Winning the Champions Trophy is a huge thing. If you don’t win a big tournament after playing so long, it hurts,” Jadeja said on air after the match.

CSK will be playing their opening match of the season against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians on Sunday in what is called the El Clásico of the cash-rich league.
