Noida Schools To Remain Closed On February 12 For Guru Ravidas Jayanti

The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday announced a public holiday on February 12 (Wednesday) for Guru Ravidas Jayanti.  

Following the directive of the UP government, the schools in Noida sent notices to the parents regarding the closure of schools on Wednesday.

“Please note that we have received the attached communication from the State Government. According to the communication, the school will mandatorily remain shut tomorrow on account of Ravidas Jayanti being declared as a public holiday instead of a restricted holiday,” the directive of a Noida school read.

“The campus will be closed for all on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 and we shall be ready to welcome the students back on Thursday, February 13, 2024. Please note, that any examinations scheduled for tomorrow will take place on another date,” the order further said. 

The order regarding the closing of Noida schools came hours after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena declared February 12 as a holiday for all government offices, autonomous bodies, public undertakings and schools in Delhi on account of Guru Ravidas Jayanti.

Apart from Delhi and Noida, the schools in other cities, including Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad would also remain shut on Wednesday.

Guru Ravidas Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas, a 15th-century saint and poet associated with the Bhakti movement. The birth anniversary of the revered saint is celebrated on February 12. Also known as Raidas, Rohidas, or Ruhidas, Guru Ravidas was a spiritual leader and reformer of the Bhakti Movement.

His teachings highlighted the importance of equality, unity, and spiritual connection with God, inspiring countless people and leaving a lasting impact on India’s spiritual and social traditions. Celebrations of Guru Ravidas Jayanti include processions and devotional singing.
