An “objectionable” social media post triggered tension in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur on Tuesday night. A large number of people from a community gathered and protested after the post “hurting religious sentiments” went viral on social media, Superintendent of Police (SP) Devendra Patidar said.
Police dispersed the crowd and an FIR was registered around 10 pm, the officer said, adding that the accused person has been detained.
Patidar said that preventive orders have been issued and people have been advised to stay off such objectionable posts.
The situation is under control and further investigation is underway.
