Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday cut short his official trip to Saudi Arabia after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, which led to 28 deaths, mostly among tourists.
The prime minister, who reached Delhi on Wednesday morning, will chair a high-level meeting with Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh.
PM Modi, who was set to visit to Kanpur on Thursday to inaugurate development projects, has cancelled the visit to the UP city in view of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Modi was scheduled to visit Kanpur on April 24 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore.
However, after the terror attack in Pahalgam, which also led to the death of a Kanpur resident, the event has been cancelled.

However, the prime minister will attend a programme in Madhubani district of Bihar, on the occasion of Panchayati Raj Diwas on April 24.
Ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Bihar, a high alert has been sounded across the state.
Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar said that all district police and several other wings of the Bihar Police have been directed to maintain a vigil by intensifying patrolling and search operations.
“Following Tuesday’s terror attack in Pahalgam, a high-security alert has been sounded across Bihar. The security has already been heightened following the Prime Minister’s visit to Madhubani on Thursday,” Kumar told PTI.
The DGP also said that security around vital institutions and tourist attractions in Rajgir, Bodhgaya, Patna and several other places has also been enhanced as a precautionary measure.
Kanpur’s Shubham Dwivedi Killed In Pahalgam
Shubham Dwivedi, a resident of Chakeri in Kanpur’s Shyam Nagar police station area, was also one of the 26 people killed in the terror attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday.
Shubham, the son of cement businessman Sanjay Dwivedi, was travelling to Jammu and Kashmir with his family on 18 April for a vacation. It was his first family trip after his wedding — he had married in February.
Shubham was shot by terrorists on Tuesday and he died on the spot. As soon as the tragic news reached his home in Kanpur, his family was devastated.
