PM Modi, French President Macron Discuss Bilateral Ties, Early End To Ukraine War

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron and discussed bilateral ties and the Russia-Ukraine war. 

Taking to X, Modi said he had a good conversation with the French President. 

“We reviewed and positively assessed the progress in bilateral cooperation in various areas. Exchanged views on international and regional issues, including efforts for bringing an early end to the conflict in Ukraine. The India-France Strategic Partnership will continue to play a key role in fostering global peace and stability,” Modi said in the post. 

The two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation across different sectors, including economic, defence, science, technology and space, said the Ministry of External Affairs in a statement.

During the telephonic conversation, Modi thanked Macron for accepting the invitation to the AI Impact Summit hosted by India in February 2026, and looked forward to welcoming President Macron in India.

“Both leaders agreed to continue to remain in touch and work closely together to promote global peace and stability,” the statement read further.
