Ten Militants Arrested Across Six Districts
According to news agency IANS, a senior police official stated that the arrests took place across Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching, Tengnoupal, and Tamenglong districts. Those detained are reportedly members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), and People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
One active cadre each from PREPAK and PLA was caught in Tengnoupal district, which shares an unfenced border with Myanmar. Security personnel recovered several mobile phones, documents, weapons, ammunition, and a substantial amount of Indian currency from the suspects.
According to police, joint teams comprising Manipur Police, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have been conducting extensive search and counter-insurgency drives across both the valley and hill regions of the state.
Security forces are also investigating the fratricide incident reported on 22 July in Noney district, where at least five members of a militant group were killed during a fierce internal clash.
Police revealed that the 22 July gunfight broke out among cadres of the Chin Kuki Mizo Army (CKMA), a group that has not signed a Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with the government.
Authorities have urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified content. “The veracity of any videos, audio clips, etc., can be confirmed by the Central Control Room,” a police statement said.
The statement further warned that posting or circulating fake content on social media could lead to legal consequences. Citizens have also been requested to return any looted arms, ammunition, or explosives to the nearest security force immediately.
