Following Thakur’s death, several Panjab University students staged a protest against the police and university authorities, alleging that outsiders were responsible for the attack, news agency PTI reported.

A purported video circulating on social media shows a student lying on the ground, bleeding profusely after being stabbed in the thigh. Police said that while some students were attacked with knives during the concert, the motive and identity of the attackers remain unclear.
Thakur was rushed to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, officials said, as per PTI. The three other injured students are receiving treatment at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16.
