Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa has received a death threat from Jaipur Central Jail.
Leader of the Opposition Tika Ram Jully raised questions about the state’s law and order situation and demanded immediate action from the government.
Speaking in the assembly, Jully described the threat as highly worrying. In a social media post, he wrote, “Receiving a death threat from Jaipur Central Jail directed at our Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Premchand Bairwa, is profoundly concerning. After Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, now even the Deputy Chief Minister is being threatened from within a jail—this is a true reflection of the state’s law and order situation. If even senior public representatives are not safe, what hope is there for the common people?”
Jully further said, “Chief Minister, this is a very serious matter. Criminals in the state have become fearless. This case must be given top priority and thoroughly investigated. How are criminals managing to get mobile phones inside jails?”
Reports state that the Jaipur Police Control Room received a threatening call, which was traced back to Jaipur Central Jail. Police are investigating who made the call from within the jail, rekindling concerns about mobile phones in prisons.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Bijju George Joseph briefed on the case, while the Rajasthan Police have launched a detailed investigation.
