Delhi CM Oath: The contest between BJP MLAs for the Chief Minister’s post has narrowed down to three names 11 days after it came back to power in the national capital after 26 years. The party will announce its decision after the BJP Legislative Party meeting on Wednesday evening and the oath ceremony will be held on Thursday.
Over 50 celebrities including Akshay Kumar and Vivek Oberoi, famous industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani and diplomats from other countries have been sent invitations to attend the ceremony on February 20 (Thursday).
PM Narendra Modi, CMs of NDA-ruled states and BJP leaders and workers from other states who campaigned in the Delhi elections will also attend the ceremony.
Who Are The Top 3 Choices?
Sources have told ABP News that the party will pick the CM from three names and they are Rekha Gupta, Ashish Sood and Vijendra Gupta.
Rekha Gupta, the MLA from Shalimar Bagh, is said to be number one in the race for the post of CM. She has become an MLA from Shalimar Bagh for the first time. There is no woman Chief Minister of NDA in the country, so her claim is considered to be very strong. She took off her political career by winning the student union elections.
The second name is of Rohini MLA Vijendra Gupta, who was the leader of the opposition in the outgoing assembly. He has been winning and becoming MLA even in the wave of Arvind Kejriwal. Being a Vaishya by caste and an old face of the party, there are high chances of him being the CM. If sources are to be believed, RSS leadership can also agree on the name of Vijendra Gupta.
Janakpuri MLA Ashish Sood is the third choice for the top post. Sood has been involved in municipal politics but is considered a strong strategist among the new-generation leaders of the party. Sood is one of the prominent Punjabi-speaking leaders of the BJP. He started his political career with ABVP and has been associated with RSS.
The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Ramlila Maidan at 11 am on Thursday.
