
In a tragic incident on Saturday evening, three people lost their lives after an under-construction building collapsed in the Paharganj area of central Delhi, reports news agency IANS. A house partially collapsed while the construction of basement was underway. Four fire tenders were rushed to the site.
Speaking about the incident, AAP MLA Imran Hussain that he came to know about the incident at 5:30 pm and that the injured has been sent to the hospital. He further added that two people have been killed in the incident.
“At around 5:30 pm, I came to know that the wall of an under-construction building collapsed, in which two people have died and one is injured. The injured has been sent to the hospital. Why it collapsed is a matter of investigation. I have told the DM that compensation should be given to the families of those who have died. Now no one is trapped,” MLA Imran Hussain said as quoted by news agency ANI.
The collapse of building comes after strong winds and dust storms swept several parts of Delhi and cities adjoining such as Uttar Pradesh’s Noida and Ghaziabad. Earlier on Saturday, similar weather was experienced in several areas.
According to news agency ANI’s video on X, trees were uprooted and fell on vehicles in parts of Noida after heavy rainfall accompanied by wind. The vehicular movements are also affected.
The Rapid Rail Metro Ashok Nagar station shed was also damaged by the strong winds accompanied by rain. News agency ANI posted a video showing a traffic pole falling after heavy rainfall and wind at Noida’s DM Chowk.
In the video, the movement of the vehicle could be seen slowing due to the traffic pole.
A tree was also uprooted and fell on vehicles near PVR: Plaza-CP after thunderstorms on Saturday.
