According to a report by news agency PTI, the couple got married in Germany on May 30. However, both of them had not given any official statement regarding this.
Mahua Moitra, 50, is an investment banker-turned-politician. She is an MP from Krishnanagar in West Bengal for the second term and has also served a term as a member of the Legislative Assembly in the state. Moitra was earlier married to Danish financier Lars Brorson.
The TMC MP is known for her sharp attacks on the BJP, and was embroiled in a controversy in 2023 following allegations of taking “cash” and “gifts” for asking questions in Lok Sabha. An inquiry was initiated against her by the Lok Sabha after BJP MP Nishikant Dubey filed a complaint, citing a letter he received from advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, who is Moitra’s former partner.
However, Moitra denied the allegations of accepting any bribe, but admitted she shared the credentials of her Lok Sabha login with Hiranandani’s staff. In December 2023, she was expelled from the Lok Sabha in the “bribe-for-query” case, but returned after winning the Lok Sabha polls again in 2024 from the same seat with a margin of over 56,000 votes.
Meanwhile, Misra, 65, is a leader from the BJD, and a senior advocate in the Supreme Court. He has served as an MP from Puri for four terms. Misra was previously married to Sangeeta Misra, with whom he has two children.
