UP Shocker! Stray Dogs Seen Eating Head Of Newborn After It Is Declared Dead By Doctors

In a shocking incident, dogs tearing apart and eating a newborn’s head at the Lalitpur Medical College in Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur on Tuesday has stirred controversy. Before anyone could intervene, the stray dogs had already devoured the infant’s head. The hospital administration distanced itself from the incident and accused the child’s family of negligence.

The baby was born at the District Women’s Hospital at Lalitpur Medical College on Sunday, February 9. Due to being underweight and unwell at birth, the newborn was admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU).

“The child was born with congenital defects,” Dr Meenakshi Singh, Chief Medical Officer said, as reported by NDTV. “The child’s head wasn’t fully developed. He didn’t have a spine either and weighed 1.3kg. He was alive and had a heart rate of 80 beats per minute (bpm) when we moved him to SNCU. We were not sure if the child would survive,” she added.

Hospital Claims Child’s Body Handed To Family After Death

According to Dr. Singh, the child passed away later that evening, and his body was handed over to the family. “The child’s aunt took the body. We have the receiving with a thumb impression of the aunt,” said Dr Singh.

On Tuesday afternoon, reports of a dog attack reached the hospital administration. Upon investigation, a headless infant’s body was discovered on the ground. The hospital authorities alleged that the family had abandoned the body. “We believe the family threw the child’s body in a plastic bag. The child had the hospital tag attached which is how we could identify,” said Dr Singh.

The remains were removed hours before the police were notified. Lalitpur Medical College Principal D. Nath has established a four-member medical committee to conduct an inquiry and submit a detailed report within 24 hours. This is not the first time the hospital has faced allegations of negligence, as similar incidents have been reported in the past.
