Police used mild lathi-charge on demonstrators in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna on Monday who were protesting against the stone pelting incident on a Hanuman Jayanti procession in the city.
The members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal came out on the streets on Monday demanding immediate action against those involved in stone pelting on the procession in the city on Saturday. According to local media reports, the Hindu outfits demanded to bulldoze the houses of the accused.
Guna Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Sinha said the situation is now normal and the police force is properly deployed. “We will take strict action against the anti-social elements,” he said.
Sinha further said that 17 people have been arrested so far in connection with the violence.

Stone Pelting On Hanuman Jayanti Shobha Yatra
On Saturday, a procession was carried out in Guna on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. When the procession reached a mosque in the Colonelganj area of the city, members of two communities came face-to-face, following which the authorities rushed to the site to bring the situation under control, said the officials on Sunday.
The incident took place at around 7:45 pm as there was some communication gap during which the two groups came face-to-face, leading to stone-pelting, Guna Collector Kishore Kanyal said.
Kanyal said that there was no permission to take out the procession in that area.
However, one of the procession organisers, Ranjeet Khatik said he has “all the proof” that the administration had granted this permission. He claimed that stones were pelted when some boys raised slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, while the other group, in retaliation, raised the ‘Allah hu Akbar’ slogan.
The police were alerted about the stone-pelting incident at around 7:45 pm, said Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Sinha, adding that the police force posted at Tekri Dham was rushed to the spot.
