Video: Armed Robbers Loot Jewellery Worth Rs 25 Cr In Bihar. Employees Allege Police Inaction

In a daylight robbery, a gang of armed criminals stormed a Tanishq showroom in Bihar’s Arrah on Monday and looted jewellery worth Rs 25 crore, along with cash. The heist, which occurred at the Gopali Chowk branch in the Arrah police station area, was caught on the showroom’s CCTV cameras.

Showroom manager Kumar Mrityunjay informed that a group of eight to nine armed robbers overpowered security and attacked employees. “Jewellery worth Rs 25 crore has been looted, cash is in addition to that… chain, necklaces, bangles, and some diamonds… This is a lapse by the authorities. It was morning time, not evening or night. We were calling the police, but did not receive any response. Two of our executives are injured, they were hit on the head by a revolver,” he said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

According to news agency IANS, victim guard Manoj Kumar recounted that the showroom had opened at 10 a.m. ahead of Holi when six criminals arrived in a car, parking it across the street. “As per showroom policy, we do not allow groups of more than four to enter at once, so we permitted them entry in pairs. When the sixth person arrived, he held a pistol to my head, snatched my weapon, and assaulted me. Then, they started filling their bags with jewellery,” he said.

‘Robbers Were Still Inside Showroom We Called Police’: Employee Alleges Delay In Police Response

The criminals also attacked a salesman before escaping with the valuables, leaving shopkeepers and bystanders in shock. Following the incident, senior police officials and Tanishq representatives from Patna reached the showroom. “We are providing all necessary information to the authorities. This is a major setback for us,” a company official told IANS.

Employees alleged a delay in police response, stating that despite calling authorities during the robbery, help did not arrive in time. “There were 8-9 armed criminals inside the showroom. When we called the police, they were still inside. Had the police arrived on time, the robbers might have been caught. But they kept saying they were on their way. By the time they reached, the criminals had already escaped,” an employee said, as quoted by IANS.

The police have launched an investigation and are analysing CCTV footage to track down the culprits.
