Virat Kohli opened up on playing for RCB for 18 straight seasons in the IPL. Ahead of the 52nd match of the IPL 2025 between RCB and CSK, a teaser of Virat’s appearance in the RCB Podcast was released, where he spoke on the importance of being with the 3-time finalists despite them not winning a title even once in the last 17 years.
In the teaser, Kohli claimed that every desire was fine unless it was being with RCB. The star player claimed that being with RCB was a part of his life, and he made the choice to stay with the franchise over finding himself in a new setup. The RCB batter claimed that he was not sure about the reception he would get in a new franchise.
“In terms of desires, everything is okay, but not this (being with RCB). But is never going to go away. So, I thought, fine, what is of more value to me today? Do I want to go to a new set-up and try to figure out life again? And I don’t know how the system is going to be, how people are going to treat me,” Kohli said in the podcast.

The 36-year-old claimed that it was important for him to value the relationship and the mutual respect he had with RCB for a long time. The former RCB skipper regarded the love received from the fans to be bigger than any silverware or trophy.
“So, I felt, you know what, for me, what’s more valuable is the relationship and the mutual respect that has been created over so many years. The love that I have received from the fans, I don’t think any silverware or any trophy can come close to that,” Kohli added.
A young Virat was picked by RCB in the IPL auctions in 2008. Since then, there has not been any looking back, as he has remained the only player to play for a single franchise in all 18 seasons of the league.
