At least four students were injured after the plaster from the ceiling of a classroom at a government primary school collapsed in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district.
The incident took place on Friday when children were attending classes inside the building. The sudden peeling of plaster sparked panic among both students and staff. Police and local administrative officials arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident. Locals also rushed to the school to assist in rescue efforts, India Today reported.
“There was a loud noise, and suddenly debris started falling. The children screamed and tried to run,” eyewitnesses recalled.
Police personnel removed the debris from the spot and rushed the injured children to a nearby hospital. All four injured students are said to be out of danger, but have been kept under observation, the report said.
District officials, including public works and education officers, visited the school to assess the damage. They also sealed off the area around the affected classroom to prevent further risk.

Following the incident, residents of Bhameda alleged that they had complained several times about the school building’s poor condition, but no action was taken.
Acknowledging the negligence, a district official said during the site inspection: “A team has been formed to investigate the incident and fix accountability. Strict action will be taken against those found responsible.”
Parents have demanded urgent inspections and repairs across all schools in the region in order to avoid similar incidents from happening again.
