[WATCH] ENG vs IND 2025: Akash Deep, Ben Duckett share wholesome moment after cheeky on-field exchange | CricTracker

Indian pacer Akash Deep and England opener Ben Duckett shared a light-hearted moment on Day 3 of the fifth Test at the Oval in London. In a video shared by the broadcasters, the two cricketers were spotted walking arm-in-arm, exchanging words in a friendly manner, just a day after Akash had given Duckett a cheeky send-off following his dismissal.

Duckett had taken an aggressive approach against Akash, even reverse-scooping him for a six. However, the pacer eventually had the last laugh when Duckett attempted another scoop shot, only to edge it through to wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel. As the opener walked back after his quickfire 43 off 28 balls, Akash put an arm around him in a gesture that appeared to be banter.

Akash, who replaced Anshul Kamboj in the playing XI, claimed only one wicket in England’s first innings, that of Duckett. However, the 28-year-old made a significant impact with the bat after being sent in as a nightwatcher on Day 2. He scored a vital 66 off 94 deliveries, sharing a 107-run partnership for the third wicket with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Akash’s innings came to an end just before lunch on Day 3 when he edged a rising delivery from Jamie Overton, with Gus Atkinson taking a superb diving catch at backward point. As the match progressed, India extended their lead beyond 300 runs, thanks to a century from Jaiswal and a half-century from Ravindra Jadeja.

“There is no need to walk him off in that fashion. Your job is done at that point. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bowler do that after getting someone out. It was strange really,” said England assistant coach Marcus Trescothick as quoted by Sky Sports.

With the series currently tilted 2-1 in England’s favor, India will be determined to win the final Test and level the series. Meanwhile, England will aim to either win or secure a draw to claim the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in front of their home crowd.
