Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up his second century of the series in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, celebrating in style during the fifth Test at The Oval on Day 3.

The left-hander reached his sixth Test hundred by guiding a back-of-length delivery from Gus Atkinson behind square for a single. As soon as he completed the milestone, Jaiswal removed his helmet and gloves, blew flying kisses towards the dressing room, and made a heart gesture with his hands. The entire Indian camp stood up in applause, celebrating the young batter’s remarkable innings.

Jaiswal once again showcased his maturity and exceptional talent, establishing himself as a flagbearer of the new-age Indian batting lineup. Meanwhile, this was his fourth Test century against England. He had previously scored centuries in Dominica, Perth, and Leeds. With his latest century at The Oval, he has now conquered London, completing an incredible run in the five-match series.

Notably, 82 of his 100 runs came behind square, a record for the highest number of behind-the-wicket runs at the point of reaching a century in Test cricket. India have now recorded 12 centuries in this away series, while both teams combined have produced 19 hundreds in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy so far.

India pushed their second-innings lead past 200 runs, thanks to Jaiswal’s century and a stellar knock from nightwatchman Akash Deep, who scored 66 off 94 balls. The pair added a 100-run partnership for the third wicket, steadying the innings after early setbacks.

In the first innings, India posted 224 runs, with Karun Nair contributing with a crucial half-century. England’s Atkinson starred with the ball, claiming a five-wicket haul to put pressure on the Indian batting lineup.

In reply, England managed 247 runs, gaining a slender 23-run lead. Harry Brook and Zak Crawley both notched up half-centuries, but Indian pacers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna turned the tide with four wickets each.

With the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy currently 2-1 in England’s favor, India are determined to win the final Test to level the series. England, on the other hand, will be aiming to draw or win the match and secure the trophy on home soil.
