[WATCH] IPL 2025: 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre smashes Bhuvaneshwar Kumar for 26 runs

The visitors, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), are taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The CSK opener Ayush Mhatre went berserk against the Indian veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar and smashed the bowler’s over for 26 runs.

The right-arm pacer came to bowl the fourth over of the powerplay. The 17-year-old at the crease smashed three back-to-back boundaries in the first three balls of the over by putting pressure back on the pacer. The fourth ball of the over was bowled outside off, and the youngster banged the ball over mid-on for a six.

The fifth ball of the over pitched as a back of a length delivery and the batter found a gap between the extra cover and mid off for a nice boundary. In the last ball of that over, the right-handed batter beautifully glided the ball between backward point and short third for another four.

The 35-year-old was smashed by the youngster all over the stadium and showcased his brilliant batting skills in front of the Bengaluru crowd. In the first innings, RCB posted a commanding total of 213 runs on the board for CSK to chase. The RCB openers Jacob Bethell (55 off 33) and the former RCB skipper Virat Kohli (62 off 33) dismantled the CSK bowlers inside the powerplay.

In the penultimate over of the RCB batting, Romario Shepherd smashed 32 runs off Khaleel Ahmed and continued his rampage in the last over against Matheesha Pathirana by scoring 20 runs. In the end, the West Indies batter scored a 14-ball half-century and became the second-fastest in IPL history.
