Mitchell Santner let out an unusually animated reaction after dismissing Karun Nair during Match 29 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians on Sunday, April 13. Nair was dismissed by a peach of a delivery after a dazzling 89-run knock off 40 deliveries while playing his first game of the current season.

A length ball angled on off stump ripped away sharply after hitting the deck, beating Karun’s defenses all ends up. Santner, mostly lowkey with his celebrations, let out a sharp cry while kicking the turf beneath him in a moment in which he vented his frustration. Going by the manner in which Karun was playing, it was indeed a big wicket secured by the Kiwi spin-bowling all-rounder.

Coming in at No. 3 as Impact Sub and playing his first game in the IPL after 1077 days, Karun smashed his way through to a 22-ball half-century within the conclusion of the powerplay. It seemed as if the 33-year-old batter was destined for more based on how he was stroking the ball and proving to be a menace to the opposition bowling attack. However, he was dismissed in the 12th over for an 89-run knock off 40 deliveries.

Things turned from bad to worse as DC lost their way after the fall of Nair. The hosts incurred an unreal collapse of 7/58 after Santner snagged Karun. MI eventually won the game by 12 runs in what turned out to be a nail-biting thriller. Impact Player from MI, Karn Sharma, received the Player of the Match accolade for his splendid three-wicket outing (3/36).
