[WATCH] Shreyas Iyer gets angry over umpire’s decision in IPL 2025

Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), was infuriated during their IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).  Glenn Maxwell of PBKS believed he had removed Travis Head after he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh.  

However, immediately signalled for a DRS review after observing the umpire giving it not out.  However, a few moments later, Shreyas Iyer was seen to be upset with one of his teammates.  As his teammates competed for a review, Iyer pointed to himself.  At Maxwell’s insistence, Iyer ultimately decided to proceed with a DRS review.

As it happened, Travis Head was still alive after the entire ordeal. It was unclear which teammate Iyer appeared to be upset with.  Even though Iyer’s words could not be heard, it was clear that he stated, “Pehle merese puch na (Ask me first)”

The PBKS skipper was unhappy with the decision and expressed the same to the umpire before opting for the review against the decision. Despite the drama in the field, the SRH batters were not affected, as they batted well. Head and Abhishek posted the highest partnership for any wicket in the IPL 2025.

Head scored 66 runs in 37 balls in his stay in the middle, which included 9 fours and 3 sixes. After starting the match slightly slow due to Sharma’s aggression at the other end, the Australian picked up his pace in the middle overs phase. He went after the spinners and helped SRH chase down the target quickly.

However, it was Abhishek who stole the show with a spectacular innings. The star batter scored 141 runs in 55 innings, which included 14 fours and 10 sixes. It was the third highest individual score for a batter and the highest while chasing in the league’s history.
