WTC 2025-27 Points Table: Here’s a look at the latest standings after New Zealand’s historic win vs England

England’s defeat in the third and final Test of the ongoing series against New Zealand has caused a significant shake-up in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings, with the Kiwis strengthening their position near the top of the table while England’s hopes of staying among the frontrunners have taken a major hit.

New Zealand sealed a memorable series victory with an 160-run win in the third Test, completing a remarkable comeback after losing the opening match. Despite missing key players including Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson and Glenn Phillips, while also losing Kane Williamson midway through the series and Blair Tickner to concussion on the opening day of the Test, the visitors produced a resilient all-round performance to script history by becoming the first New Zealand side to recover from a first-Test defeat and win a three-match series.

Winning a crucial toss, Tom Latham and Devon Conway laid the foundation with a mammoth 317-run opening partnership, putting England under immense pressure. Although the hosts fought back brilliantly with the ball on a scorching second day, New Zealand’s pace attack responded emphatically to secure an 84-run first-innings lead. Daryl Mitchell then produced a composed century in the second innings to stretch the target beyond England’s reach before the tourists bowled them out to seal a famous triumph.

The victory further strengthened New Zealand’s standing in the WTC race, with the Black Caps continuing their impressive campaign after already registering a series sweep over the West Indies earlier in the cycle. They now emerge as one of the strongest contenders for a place in the WTC final.

Australia continue to occupy the top spot in the standings following their dominant Ashes campaign against England and a 3-0 clean sweep of the West Indies. Reigning champions South Africa remain among the leading sides after winning three of their four Tests during tours of Pakistan and India in late 2025.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, climbed up the table after their historic Test victory over Pakistan in Dhaka, while Pakistan slipped further down following another disappointing defeat.

India remain in the middle of the standings after an inconsistent campaign. They began with a drawn series against England and followed it with a home clean sweep of the West Indies, but successive home defeats against New Zealand and South Africa have dented their qualification hopes.
