Australia return to Bangladesh for white-ball series after 15-year hiatus | CricTracker

Australia have confirmed that the men’s team will be returning to Bangladesh for a bilateral white-ball series in June after a 15-year hiatus.

The tour includes three ODI matches, followed by as many T20I matches,  with the series set to commence on June 9. The ODIs are to be played on June 9, 11 and 14, while the T20I games are scheduled for June 17, 19 and 21.

The ODI leg of the series will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, while the T20I matches will be played at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram.

In a landmark event, the series has also seen a fresh broadcasting rights deal being struck, which would allow for the telecast of the games in Australia. The games are to be broadcast on Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports.

Australia last visited Bangladesh in 2021 for a five-match T20I series, which they lost 4-1. The series happened amidst there being no agreements with the broadcast rights holders and Australian broadcast companies, which meant the series could not be telecast in the country.

The series against Bangladesh will be followed by a three-match ODI series in Pakistan, which is set to commence on May 30. The fixtures for the same are yet to be confirmed.

The Bangladesh series will be Australia’s first T20I assignment since the humiliating elimination in the group stages of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Bangladesh are also set to play two test matches in Australia in August, their first in the country since 2003, at Darwin and Mackay

Chief National Selector George Bailey mentioned that there would be training camps held in May for Australia’s white-ball players and prospects, who are still in the country and are not part of the ongoing franchise leagues.

“We’ve got a batch of camps in May, before the Pakistan and Bangladesh white-ball series (and we’re) focused pretty intently on which players we’re going to get there at the moment,” Bailey said on April 1, as reported by cricket.com.au.
