As the water level in the Purna River rose after heavy rain, waterlogging was witnessed in in Navsari and adjacent areas in Gujarat. The overflowing river caused water to enter residential areas, prompting authorities to move residents to safer areas.

On waterlogging in Navsari, Mamlatdar Rakesh Jadav said: “Due to rainfall in the upper areas of the district, the water level in the river is rising. Due to this, areas in the lower reaches are facing waterlogging. We have started shifting the residents to safer areas”
Red Alert In Ahmedabad And Rajkot
Banaskantha district also faced severe flooding as heavy rain lashed the region, with Tharad being one of the worst-hit area. Daily life was disrupted as vehicles struggled to cross waterlogged roads.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for the Banaskantha district, forecasting “very heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls.”
A red alert has also been issued for several areas, including Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Morbi, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Rajkot, Sabarkantha, and Banaskantha districts. IMS has forecast that these areas are expected to experience moderate to gusty winds below 40 km per hour, heavy rainfall exceeding 15 mm per hour, and lightning.
Residents have been urged to stay indoors and step out only if necessary.
Additionally, yellow alerts have also been issued for extreme heavy rainfall for the next seven days. IMD has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Saurashtra and Kutch over the week. Low-lying areas in Saurashtra are at moderate risk of flash floods.
An alert has been issued for the western coastal regions, including Konkan, Goa, and the Ghat areas of Maharashtra, due to the presence of a strong offshore trough and a substantial influx of moisture from the Arabian Sea. Extremely heavy rainfall, exceeding 21 cm, is expected on July 4 and again during July 6–7, particularly across South Konkan, Goa, and parts of Madhya Maharashtra.
