Punjab Kings’ left-handed hotshots Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly stitched a brilliant 182-run stand for the second wicket off just 80 balls in their match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur. Coming together after Mohammed Shami dismissed Prabhsimran Singh off the third ball of the game, Connolly took his time to get going, but Priyansh motored along as the aggressor as the Kings finished the powerplay on a score of 63/1. Connolly took off after the powerplay, taking on the spinners and showing his elegant reach and stroke play.
One of the key moments in the partnership came when the 13th over, bowled by Aiden Markram, was taken for 32 runs by the pair. Connolly started the carnage, hitting the first three balls of the over for six. A slap over extra cover was followed by a length ball launched over long on. The third ball was driven straight back down over the bowler. Makram bowled a wide off the following ball, and Connolly ran a single of the subsequent one. Arya, now on strike, launched the next two balls for six. A slog sweep over mid-wicket was followed by another hit straight down the ground, as the pair finished the over with 32 runs.
