Race For Bihar Deputy CM: Three JD(U) Names In Fray, Two Set To Be Chosen

Three senior leaders from Janata Dal (United)-Vijendra Yadav, Vijay Chaudhary and Shravan Kumar-have emerged as frontrunners in the race for Deputy Chief Minister positions in Bihar. Sources indicate that two among them are likely to be chosen as Deputy CMs in the new government, signalling a key phase in the state’s political transition. The development comes shortly after a major leadership shift in Bihar, with the ruling alliance moving swiftly to formalise its new administrative structure following recent changes at the top.

Leadership Shift

Nitish Kumar resigned as Chief Minister on Tuesday after chairing his final Cabinet meeting and submitting his resignation to the Governor. Soon after, the NDA legislature party convened and unanimously elected Samrat Chaudhary as its leader, clearing the path for him to take over as the next Chief Minister.

Chaudhary’s swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 11 AM on Wednesday at Lok Bhavan. His elevation marks a significant political shift in Bihar, with the new leadership expected to outline its governance priorities in the coming days.

Key Decisions

Senior BJP leaders, including Shivraj Singh Chouhan, attended the legislature party meeting as central observer. Other key figures such as B. L. Santosh and Vinod Tawde were also present during the proceedings.

Attention now shifts to the finalisation of the Deputy Chief Minister posts, with the selection of two leaders from the shortlisted names expected to complete the new power structure in Bihar.
